The Myths about CBD

6 Popular Myths about CBD

CBD Gets You High

The notion that all CBD is psychoactive is entirely false. While it is true that CBD is made from hemp plants, CBD is a natural compound that is not psychoactive. That means it can never get you high.

Hemp extract can have small amounts of THC, the compound in cannabis plants that gets you high. But in order for CBD oil to be legally sold, it has to have an extremely low concentration of THC, below 0.3% to ensure there are no mind-altering effects.

Because THC can only be present in tiny trace amounts, when taking CBD oil you will experience no psychoactive effects.  Marijuana is a crop, and CBD is a natural compound found in hemp plants.

Marijuana plants and hemp plants are two different varieties of the same plant, cannabis. Picture it like oranges and lemons both being citrus, but orange juice is never made from lemons. Same deal for CBD (made from hemp) and THC (made from Marijuana).

CBD Products are Illegal

CBD products are legal on a federal level nationwide (legalized by the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill), as long as the included THC content is below 0.3%, ensuring that there are no psychoactive effects. CBD is generally made from hemp plants, not marijuana. These are two different plants grown for various reasons.

Hemp is legal almost everywhere in the U.S. while Marijuana is not yet. Any products with more than 0.3% THC will be considered illegal in these states, which is one of the reasons Jupiter CBD Oil always includes less than 0.3% THC.

CBD Works Immediately

Typically, you can feel the effects of CBD after about 15-30 minutes when you take a sublingual tincture (take by mouth, hold under your tongue for 30 seconds, then swallow). However, CBD takes some time to show its full effects. So it’s smart to take CBD daily for 30 days to experience the full benefits.

CBD Will Put You to Sleep

When taken correctly, it’s highly unlikely that CBD is going to make you sleepy or drowsy. In fact, CBD can make you feel more focused during the day and feel more rested at night. While CBD does relax your body, being relaxed and feeling sleepy are two completely different states.

So you can take CBD with confidence and should never feel out of it or sleepy. Everybody is different, of course, but CBD causing drowsiness does not seem common at all.

Taking More CBD is Better

Many people assume that by taking a higher amount of CBD, they will get better, faster, or longer-lasting effects. That’s not true. Just like with any supplement, there is a point where you are taking too much. While CBD doesn’t seem to cause any life-threatening harm in high-doses, it doesn’t seem to always be a positive either.

Too much CBD can overstimulate your ECS receptors (the tiny receptors responsibly to interact with cannabinoids like CBD). So when you overdo it, you risk losing the effectiveness of CBD, experiencing side effects, and having to take a break.

CBD Won’t Show on a Drug Test

Drug tests typically test for THC, CBD’s psychoactive cousin, made from marijuana plants. While we can’t speak for other products, Victory Leaf products always contain less than the legal limit of 0.3% THC.

However, your body can metabolize CBD in a way that may show as a false positive on a drug test. Additionally, since our products can contain trace amounts of THC, we cannot guarantee that you pass a drug test. So please always use discretion when using any CBD products.
